Good And Useless News:
iTunes Store is now available for United Arab Emirates (UAE). iTunes Store works now in UAE just fine. The useless part is that, you can only access App Store (a part of iTunes Store). I did not understand this part why apple made only App Store available? because to run official Apps on the iPhone you need 2.0 version of iPhone firmware.
But version 2.0 will lock your phone and iPhone will not work with both service providers Etisalat and Du.
The good news is that once you unlock iPhone and able update to 2.0 firmware, you can install iTunes App Store Applications on your phone. You will need a valid iTunes account to download the Apps. All the local Credit Cards are working to activate your account it iTunes.
Update: Only Credit Card are working. Debit Cards and PayPal are not working.
Update: As Magnus pointed about iPod Touch, update is also available but I did not see it in UAE iTunes Store which costs 9.95 USD (37 AED)

So I can comment now? I just wanted to say that you didn’t mention iPod Touch which also got a firmware upgrade with much the same new things as the iPhone. And Touch is sold here.
