THE day is here, and I have to eat my words now. iPhone Dev Team released their PwnageTool 2.0 today morning and I have been testing my iPhone 1st Gen (2G) with new unlock, jailbreak and activated 2.0 Firmware.

Features of PwnageTool 2.0:

• iPhone (1st Gen) with 2.0 - Activated, Unlocked & Jailbroken, (with support for third party applications).
• iPod Touch with 2.0 - Activated & Jailbroken, (with support for third party applications).
• iPhone (3G) with 2.0 - Activated, Jailbroken (with support for third party applications).

Although WinPwn Tool (Windows) is not yet available but you still can upgrade to 2.0 firmware. I must warn you that Insaller.app is not available for 2.0 Firmware yet and 1.1.4 third-party applications are also not available in wide variety. But good thing, you can use iTunes Store Applications and install Cydia application (not much applications available).

This guide is for iPhone 1st Gen (2G) and Intermediate users only, who have knowledge of iPhone terms and WinPwn Tool.

The Guide

1. First thing you will need 1.1.4 iPhone, if you have older or newer firmware you should downgrade or upgrade to 1.1.4 Firmware.
2. Download iTunes 7.7, Official 1.1.4 Firmware, WinPWN last available version, and Custom 2.0 Firmware built by iSpazio.
3. Install or Upgrade to the latest version of iTunes, which is currently 7.7
4. The best solution I found is to restore your iPhone to 1.1.4 Official Firmware (THIS IS WILL DELETE ALL DATA, APPLICATIONS AND MEDIA, THIS WILL ALSO LOCK YOUR PHONE). To do so, connect your phone to iTunes and let iTunes create a backup of current settings of iPhone. Once iTunes is finished syncing your phone. Hold down SHIFT and click Restore in iTunes. iTunes will ask for file to restore, choose downloaded 1.1.4 Official Firmware. iTunes will start to restore your iPhone.
5. Once restore is finished completely, iTunes will warn you about the third-part sim card. Thats a good thing means you now have 1.1.4 firmware installed and phone is locked now.
6. Now launch WinPWN tool and put your phone into Restore Mode/DFU mode (hold Sleep/Wake and Home button on iPhone for about 30 seconds until you see iTunes & Cable icon on iPhone screen)
7. After going into restore mode click on the Browse .ipsw in WinPWN interface, choose the Official 1.1.4 Firmware
8. Now you need to Pwnage your iPhone in order to install Custom 2.0 Firmware (Provided By: iSpazio). Click on iPwner, this will start processing the Pwnage. Once Pwnage is finished you will still see third-party sim card warning again in iTunes (Don’t Panic).
9. Now you should put your iPhone into Restore Mode once again. After your iPhone is in Restore Mode/DFU. Hold down SHIFT and click Restore in iTunes. This will again restore your iPhone but now with Firmware 2.0.
10. Once restore is finished you will see some other automated tasks on your iPhone screen. After automatic restart, your iPhone is ready to use with latest 2.0 Firmware.
11. UPDATE: iTunes will ask to restore previous iPhone backup / settings DON’T RESTORE TO PREVIOUS SETTINGS choose Setup As New iPhone. If you restore previous settings from iTunes backup, iPhone Mail.app will not work.

Your phone should be now activated, unlocked and jailbreak with 2.0 Firmware.

After 2.0 Firmware:

• Sync everything again according to your needs.
• There are not much applications available through Cydia.app and Installer.app is not yet available.
• Speaker / Calls volume will be little less loud then previous, but in next few days patch will be available.
• You should change your WiFi Settings. If you are using Etisalat or Du change Cell Phone Data Settings (Edge/2G Setting) accordingly.
• Your should have valid iTunes Account to download iTunes App Store Applications.
